Andre Balazs’ luxurious Standard Spa on Belle Isle just off South Beach borrows design elements from the property’s previous incarnation as the Lido Spa Hotel. Situated on Belle Isle just off South Beach it has, since its very first incarnation as the Monterey Motel, been the only hotel on the quiet residential island. So this is where the jet set would have gone to sooth their hangovers. Th e original Lido was designed in the 1960s. Balazs redesigned the hotel with a modern twist on the original vibe. For example, Hans Wegner chairs are set against a beach ball-inspired stained glass wall. The alfresco Lido Restaurant & Bayside Grill is the perfect palce to hang out with a dry martini.
